Powhatan County

Bordered on the North by the James River and on the South by the Appomattox River, Powhatan County has experienced rapid growth and a changing landscape in recent years.  As this traditionally agricultural county becomes more suburbanized, residents and organizations are working together with the County to ensure a toolbox for balanced growth in Powhatan.

PSG has supported various stakeholders in their efforts to spread knowledge about conservation easements and park creation, for example, and has been part of the recent Powhatan County Comprehensive Planning process to ensure that economic development is balanced with rural conservation for the benefit of all citizens.

The 2010 Census population was 28,046, up 25.3% from 2000.  Click here for a map of 2010 results including growth rates.
