Goochland County

Goochland residents pride themselves on the county's rural character and heritage.  Growth pressures, especially from the east, have prompted some to say, "Don't Short Pump Goochland."

The Comprehensive Plan reflects this viewpoint and outlines a vision for strategically located villages to absorb projected growth.  PSG has led efforts to encourage information sharing and dialogue to thoughtfully address the needed balance between economic development and rural conservation.  Our Goochland Village Series brought together citizens, decision makers, and experts to explore what makes a village, to learn from a neighboring village model, and to dig deeper into the challenges and opportunities of villages for Goochland.

The 2010 Census population was 21,717, up 28.8% from 2000. Click here for a map of 2010 results including growth rates.
